2022 Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame Call for Nominations

The Ohio Civil Rights Commission is accepting nominations for the 13th Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame. The Civil Rights Hall of Fame is a forum for acknowledging outstanding Ohioans who are pioneers in the field of human and civil rights and who have advanced the pursuit of equality and inclusion. Past Hall of Fame honorees exemplify leadership, service, and advocacy in the area of civil rights and performed extraordinary acts aimed at eliminating barriers to equality.

Since the first Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame event in 2009, 80 individuals and groups have been inducted to the Ohio Hall of Fame. “After two years filled with unusual circumstances, we are hopeful and optimistic as we prepare to celebrate a new class of inductees,” said Ohio Civil Rights Commission Chair Lori Barreras. This year’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on October 6, 2022 in the Ohio Statehouse Atrium. The event is sponsored by PNC, Honda of America and Wright State University.

The Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame nomination process requires a nominator’s statement of intent, three letters of support from members of the community and a summary of the nominee’s accomplishments. For more details, see the official nomination form or visit the Ohio Civil Rights Commission website. Completed nominations must be received by mail or emailed by June 10, 2022.
