Final Push for the Child Tax Credit

Families have just two more days to enroll in the advance Child Tax Credit and receive payments this year. If families have kids aged 0 to 17 and have not claimed their Child Tax Credit (CTC), they must act by Monday, November 15, 11:59PM ET. The CTC is worth up to $3,600 per child—half payable in 2021, the remainder will be paid in 2022.

60 million+ families are automatically receiving the credit — but families who earn too little to have to file taxes must sign up to receive payments. Code for America, in collaboration with the White House and Treasury, launched a simplified tool at GetCTC.org for families who aren’t required to file taxes. The tool is in English and Spanish and is mobile friendly, and most families can complete it within about 15 minutes. But families need to know about the tool if they’re going to use it.
